Alocasia Frydek Green Velvet
Alocasia Frydek, also known as Green Velvet Alocasia, has deep emerald leaves with a soft velvety texture and bright white veins. It brings a refined and elegant touch to any space.
Alocasia Frydek grows one new leaf at a time. Older leaves may yellow as new ones form, which is normal. Indoors, it can grow to around 60 to 90 cm in height.
How to Care for Your Alocasia Frydek (Green Velvet)
Light
Place your Frydek in bright, indirect light. Avoid strong direct sun because it can burn the leaves. Low light will slow growth and reduce leaf size.
Watering
Keep the soil lightly moist. Allow the top 2 to 3 cm of soil to dry before watering again. This plant enjoys higher humidity, so gentle misting or a nearby humidifier can help maintain healthy foliage.
Soil
Use a well draining aroid mix. A combination of premium indoor potting mix, perlite, orchid bark and a little coconut husk supports healthy roots.
Humidity and Temperature
Aim for humidity above 60 percent. Keep it away from heaters, air conditioning vents and cold draughts. The ideal temperature range is 18 to 26 degrees.
Feeding
Feed during spring and summer using a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Pause feeding in winter when the plant naturally slows down.
